A Few Reasons to Get Another Opinion

1. Verification of a Diagnosis

It has been said that diagnosing medical conditions is part art and part science. There are times when two different physicians or providers can review the same medical file and come up with two differential diagnoses — and then offer two very different courses of treatment. Before jumping into the first recommendation, you may wish to consider other options; or perhaps see if another physician agrees or differs with the diagnosis and original treatment recommendation. It is most important to be sure that you’ve received a proper diagnosis.

2. Explore All Treatment Options

Does the diagnosis and corresponding treatment recommended include starting out conservatively or begin with more interventional procedures, such as surgery, injections, or ablations? Perhaps you are unaware there may be other treatment options available which are less invasive. When exploring treatment options, it is crucial that you ask about the potential risks and benefits of each of the options presented.

3. Find a Doctor You Trust

It is important that your treating physician truly listens to you, understands your condition, and takes the time to answer all of your questions.

Will My Doctor Be Upset?

The truth here is I have absolutely no idea. With that said, in my opinion, s/he should not be at all upset that you sought another opinion. Second opinions are very common in the medical community and usually are encouraged by physicians who are confident in their scope of practice. In my opinion your doctor should encourage you to get all of the information you require to feel confident in choosing the treatment plan that’s best for you.

The Cost of Dr. Green’s Second Opinions

Dr. Green charges $50 for a second opinion consultation whether you are an existing patient, potential patient or consenting stranger. This fee encompasses the time taken regarding history and exam as well as the expertise incorporated to access all medical records and ultimately to render an accurate opinion.

All examinations must be in person.
Whereas Dr. Green’s office will request your records from other physicians, ultimately it will be your responsibility to assure they have been received by his office for review. Please allow at least 72 hours in advance for records review prior to scheduling. This time frame can certainly vary in SWFL’s high season.

Schedule Your Second Opinion

To arrange a second opinion, phone 239.495.1166 or request via email at ChiroCareAndRehab@Gmail.com.

You will be asked to provide previous medical records and perhaps to sign a Med Release so records can be obtained for a comprehensive review.
